KAHU TAURIMA

Kahu Taurima is the korowai of services that provide wrap around support for whanau to care, nurture, and foster our most cherished pēpi, tamariki, and whānau within the first 2000 days.

He aha te mahi a Kahu Taurima?

Kahu Taurima is a kaupapa Māori service that wraps around hapū māmā, pāpā, pēpi and whānau, nurturing wellbeing from hapūtanga through early parenthood. Our mahi is guided by tikanga Māori, whanaungatanga and the understanding that strong, supported whānau create strong mokopuna and communities

Kahu Taurima supports whānau through a range of kaupapa Māori wānanga and group programmes that strengthen knowledge, confidence and connection.

Our kaupapa may include:

  • Hapūtanga wānanga celebrating pregnancy and preparing whānau for birth and parenting

  • Mahi toi and raranga kaupapa such as muka ties, pēpi kākahu, basket weaving and creative expression

  • Traditional knowledge sharing including pūrākau, taonga pūoro and mātauranga tuku iho

  • Wellbeing and connection spaces that uplift whānau through kōrero, kai and collective learning

  • Whānau‑friendly activities that welcome tamariki and support parents at every stage

We provide safe, inclusive, mana‑enhancing spaces that support whānau to learn, connect, and grow together.

All of our kaupapa are designed to reduce isolation, build confidence, and affirm cultural identity.
