Ko wai mātou?

Te Ōhaka o Ngāti Hine is a kaupapa Māori-based OSCAR (Out of School Care and Recreation) programme delivered by the Ngāti Hine Health Trust.

We provide safe, engaging, and nurturing care for tamariki aged 5-13 years through both our afterschool and school holiday programmes. Our programme is designed to support tamariki to learn, grow, and thrive in a culturally grounded environment that promotes wellbeing, creativity, and connection.

Our Programme Philosophy At Te Ōhaka o Ngāti Hine, tamariki are supported to learn and grow in an inclusive kaupapa Māori environment grounded in tikanga values:

  • Whanaungatanga – building strong relationships

  • Manaakitanga – showing care and respect

  • Tuakana-teina – supporting and learning from each other

  • Kotahitanga – unity and working together

  • Tika & Pono – doing what is right with integrity Aroha – compassion and kindness

  • Kaitiakitanga – caring for people, place, and environment

These principles guide everything we do and help create a nurturing space where all tamariki feel valued and supported.

What will NHHT do to support a safe and connected community at Te Mataora?

NHHT already owns and manages housing and tenancies across our rohe, so this is not new territory for us. Our approach combines good tenancy management with wraparound support for whānau, quality housing and strong relationships with the communities we operate in.

At Te Mataora, we will bring that same approach. Clear tenancy expectations and responsive management will sit alongside support for whānau and a well-designed development that encourages connection, pride and a strong sense of community.
