Whanau Whanui works from a whanau-focussed, child-centred, strengths based approach. The service aims to enhance the strengths of the individual and their whanau, and to support them to use their strengths and aspirations to reach their potential, improve their circumstances and give their children a better start in life.

Family Start

Providing support, encouragement and education to whanau so they can enjoy parenting and their babies can have the best possible start in life. This entails improved health, educational and social outcomes for the child, positive parenting capability and practice for parents and caregivers and improvement in personal and whanau circumstances.

Incredible Years

Parenting programme that supports parents to have a better relationship with their children, stimulate their children's development, gain skills to feel more confident as a parent and learn positive and nurturing parenting styles. Delivering programmes within Whangarei and Districts areas annually.

FAMILY CENTRED DIRECT SERVICES

Family Centred Direct Services creates change needed to prevent family violence from reoccurring and restores safety and well-being/mauri ora where family violence has occurred. Supports whanau to access the additional services they need and draw on their wider whanau and community to achieve longer-term change.

SAGES

SAGES is a community-based mentoring programme that utilises the life experience and knowledge of Kaumatua and Kuia to families and individuals in their community. Through SAGES people can develop their skills and learn anything from sewing to karakia and everything else in between. SAGES mentors are the epitome of "Puna ki te Puna, From the well spring of our Tupuna to the well spring of our Mokopuna".

Restorative Justice

Restorative Justice is a process that aims to put things right for people who have been victims of offences. It does this through a meeting between the victim and the offender. This meeting is called a Restorative Justice conference.
